Norway is encouraged to support and contribute to the common endeavour of ASEAN such as efforts to narrow development gaps, regional connectivity, human resource development, and energy. Asean Secretary-General Le Luong Minh also suggested that Norway share their expertise in mediation and reconciliation, during the meeting with Stig Ingemar Traavik, current Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Indonesia. Traavik today presented his Letter of Credence as Ambassador to ASEAN last week at the ASEAN Secretariat. In response, Ambassador Traavik expressed his government's desire to strengthen relations and pursue practical cooperation between the two parties. He reiterated the intention of the Government of Norway to accede to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in the Southeast Asia (TAC).

As they exchanged views on recent developments in the region and ASEAN's efforts to forge the regional peaceful atmosphere conducive for economic growth and prosperity, SG Minh and Ambassador Traavik expressed their wish to continue working closely and further strengthen the relationship between Asean and Norway.
