German chancellor Angela Merkel arrived on a brief visit to Norway Wednesday afternoon, for talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. It is expected that during the six-hour visit, the two leaders will discuss economic issues, as well as energy. Norway is one of the main suppliers of natural gas to Germany, and Germany is scheduled to close down its nuclear energy power plants within ten years.Norway is interested in drawing Germany into a more active role in the future oil and gas activity in the Barents Sea.
